Test (“Dry Run”) Your Route and Moving Method

Plan your move: Before picking up a valuable piece, know how you’ll handle it, your route while moving, and where you intend to place it.

Consider your (gloved) hands: Be conscious of where you place your hands upon the piece and avoid fragile areas. Some projects require gloves. Certain objects or finishes - including silver, ceramic, high-gloss finish and heavy, slippery pieces – can be damaged both by oils on your fingers and cleaning required to remove fingerprints.

Remove loose items: Remove objects that are not part of the piece, such as pillows accompanying furniture and items atop tables or inside drawers.

Free your route of obstacles: Clear your route and ensure its width accommodates your piece. Better to prepare ahead than find yourself carrying a valuable piece...and caught in a corner!
