Leather
Tooling
and Restoration
While primarily used for the upholstery of seating,
tooled leather is often applied on desktop writing
surfaces, wall and furniture panels. Leather is
sturdy, however the regular use and wear can
cause accelerated degradation. Wood is
commonly used as the substrate to which the
leather is attached, which may also contribute
to the degradation as the wood swells and shrinks
over time affecting the stability of leather covering
it. It is often necessary to remove the leather to
repair the underlying structural problems.
We provide the borders, tooling patterns and
materials to include actual gold and silver leaf
and various composition metals.
Bernacki & Associates is able to conserve and
repair old damaged leather surfaces or replace
deteriorated leather with new one, patinated and
distressed to match.
