CONDITION
The front right corner of the serpentine top had an
expansion crack running through the veneer and
substrate as well as the carved apron. Several
areas of marquetry veneer were released and lifting
from the substrate. Inlaid banding was releasing
along the right side edge of the table top.
The finish had areas of discoloration and
unevenness in tone. TREATMENT
The crack was in-filled with suitable materials to
match. All lifting and releasing marquetry work
was consolidated and re-glued. Matched tone
and sheen then patina applied to all new materials
and repairs. The table top was then covered with
French polish. |
